Iris Fitz uses her professional experience as a licensed professional counselor by providing individual and family therapy. She works with children, adolescents, and families while specializing in play therapy. Iris works with high conflict families and supports parent’s concerns and involvement in their children’s lives. Her ongoing professional training and experience with trauma, anxiety, and depression help individual and family dynamics to overcome challenges.
Iris’ passion is to help parents improve parent-and-child relationships using Theraplay® principles.
Iris is fluent in Spanish and has had experience in working with infant/early head start, daycare, and schools to support a child’s individualized learning style. She provides teacher/parent workshops in both English and Spanish. Other prior experience includes working in day mental health programs as well as rehabilitative and long-term facilities to support an individual’s well-being.
Iris obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School Professional Psychology in 2018. She earned her Master’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in children and adolescents from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2015 with her Applied Research Project on Awareness of Nonsuicidal Self Injury for Adolescents. She trained at the Theraplay® Institute (Level One and Level Two Theraplay & Marshack Interaction Method (MIM) and Group Theraplay) and holds the certification to Foundational Level Theraplay® Practitioner.
