Donna M. Gates, M. A., LCPC is a family therapist with over 20 years of experience in the fields of individual/marital/family therapy, domestic violence, and child therapy. Donna graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1976 with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a certified Theraplay® therapist and trainer as well as a certified Theraplay® supervisor.  Donna has provided training in Theraplay both nationally and internationally. ‘Theraplay is a relational play therapy that helps children and families to build their cohesive strength and resiliency to weather challenges with experiences of security, regulation, and connection.’ (theraplay.org).   Through the medium of interactive play, Theraplay fosters connection and joy between children and caregivers to promote primary attachment and to repair and strengthen relationships. Fun relational engagement promotes social and emotional health for people of all ages!

Currently Donna provides consultation and supervision to clinicians working with children, parents, and families, especially in the areas of attachment, regulation, and building connection and resiliency. She also has provided workshops to parents and grandparents focusing on joyful interactive play as a way to foster connection and build better brains.
